What to Expect During Your Extraction

- Closing: stitches are placed if needed, and you bite on gauze to control bleeding.
- Aftercare: we explain how to care for the area and plan any follow-up visits.
Recovery and Aftercare
Most patients feel better within a few days. For the first 24 hours, rest, bite gently on gauze, and use a cold compress to reduce swelling. Avoid smoking, spitting, rinsing forcefully, and drinking through a straw, as these can dislodge the blood clot and cause dry socket. After the first day, rinse gently with warm salt water after meals and chew on the other side of your mouth. Call us if you have severe pain, a fever, or bleeding that does not stop.
Replacing an Extracted Tooth
Replacing a missing tooth helps you chew comfortably and keeps neighbouring teeth from shifting. Common options include dental implants, a dental bridge, or dentures.
